Job Title: Assembler - Electric Products

This classification requires the complete assembly, installation, and testing of hoists, parts, and their subassemblies following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Align components and bolt, screw, or rivet them together.
  • Install moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and work them to test free movement.
  • Align and mesh gears in a gearbox to assemble a system of gears.
  • Test or assist in testing the operation of a completed product.
  • Sub-assemblies will include, but not be limited to: transmissions, brakes, panel plates, and final assemblies.
  • Work from blueprints, production illustrations, process sheets, production test procedures, written and oral instructions where assembly methods and procedures are established.
  • Rotate into all areas of classification on a regular basis.
  • Transport specified parts from storage to the work area manually or by using an overhead crane.
  • Brush lubricant on moving parts and fit parts together on a bench, following blueprints.
  • Insert shims between parts to realign or level parts and verify alignment and clearance of parts with micrometers, scale, and gauges.
  • Bolt, screw, and rivet parts together.
  • Operate a hydraulic press to force bearings into sleeves and flatten rivets.
  • Connect electric wires to terminals of a subassembly.
  • Get a work order, transmission assembly parts, assemble a transmission, load a transmission into a fixture, and assemble a motor.
  • Build up hoist sub-assemblers, brakes, limit switch, PB station, power cord, and assemble to a hoist.
  • Move a hoist to a test station, perform a high pot test, install a chain, chain stop components, get a lower switch, get a high limit switch, position a hoist for a load test.
  • Perform a load test, connect to a station tester, and complete a station test, scan a work order, and input a clock number/labor reporting. Start to pair a hoist.
  • Make foams for packaging, pack a hoist, place a box on a pallet, scan work orders, and complete a make transaction.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
