Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation
    • Assist in setting up the operating room and organizing sterile equipment and supplies.
    • Verify the accuracy of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Perioperative Care
    • Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
    • Transport and position patients on the operating table.
    • Apply sterile surgical drapes and maintain a sterile field.
  • Instrument Management
    • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team as needed.
    • Verify the accuracy of sponge counts and instrument counts.
  • Post-Operative Care
    • Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room.
    • Dispose of biohazardous materials and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and maintain a calm demeanor.
  • Ability to follow hospital policies and procedures.
