Job Title: Sous ChefDepartment: Kitchen
Reports To: Executive Chef
SUMMARY: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to craft a signature Farm-to-Table dining experience that embodies the essence of Sunrise Ranch. This full-time role demands a skilled individual with robust culinary expertise and leadership capabilities, along with a comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations and proven management experience.
WORK AVAILABILITY: 32-40 hours per week, including potential evenings, weekends, and holidays.
SALARY RANGE: $25/hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations.
- Demonstrate a passion for food within a farm-to-table framework.
- Foster a nurturing environment, acknowledging the kitchen as the heart of the home.
- Maintain high culinary standards while developing and executing farm-to-table menus.
- Ensure quality control and minimize food waste.
- Possess knowledge of safety and sanitation protocols; Servsafe Certification is advantageous.
- Support inventory management and collaborate with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to adhere to budgetary constraints.
- Help the Senior Sous Chef establish a cleaning schedule and systems for maintaining cleanliness.
- Be open to guidance and constructive feedback.
- Uphold professional standards and best practices in the kitchen.
- Work alongside the Accounting Department to remain within budgetary limits.
- Manage food costs, portion sizes, and inventory effectively.
- Assist with quarterly inventory assessments.
- Utilize ingredients creatively as outlined in the weekly menu.
- Develop, test, and document new recipes that reflect our unique culinary style.
- Coordinate with the Dining Room Hostess to uphold food service standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in waste management areas.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to deliver exceptional meals for large gatherings.
- Consistently ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Contribute to the overall mission of Sunrise Ranch through:

- Providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff
- Perform additional essential duties as required.
- Culinary degree or a degree in food nutrition is preferred.
- Experience in scratch cooking.
- A minimum of two years in a supervisory or management position within the food industry.
- Familiarity with health department regulations and requirements.
- Proficient in using computers, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google applications.
- Servsafe Certification is a plus.
- Experience with various specialty diets (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.).
- Knowledge of whole foods, legumes, and various grains.
- Comprehensive understanding of nutrition models.

- Physical requirements:
- Able to stand for extended periods and adapt to varying environmental conditions.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform pushing and pulling tasks.
- Capable of using standard ware-washing chemicals.
