Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team in Palos Verdes Estates, CA. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, parks, water and sewer facilities, buildings, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as trucks, tractors, and skip loaders for various construction and maintenance operations involving streets and gutters.
  • Patrol assigned areas to locate potholes, spread asphalt to patch and repair streets, and perform emergency street, sewer, storm drain, or other public service maintenance work.
  • Assemble and install street signs, set up traffic control devices, and maintain catch basins and storm drainpipes.
  • Perform routine and closely related duties under supervision, exercising judgment and initiative, and occasionally responding to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
  • Utilize proper safety precautions and protective personal equipment related to all work performed.
Requirements
  • Experience performing general maintenance and/or construction work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Utilization and care of general construction and maintenance tools and equipment as used in the assigned area of work.
  • Methods, techniques, and procedures related to parks, buildings, street maintenance, or water system operations and maintenance.
  • Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in truck and heavy equipment operations.
Working Conditions

Routinely exposed to outdoor conditions with environmental factors such as temperature variations, odors, toxic agents, noise, vibrations, wetness, machinery, and dust.
