Job Title: Thermal Engineer - Starship Thermal Analysis

At SpaceX, we are pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. We are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Engineer to join our Starship Thermal Analysis team.

Job Summary:

The Thermal Engineer will be responsible for the thermal design, test, and validation of vehicles and hardware. This includes the development of thermal models, analysis of thermal performance, and the implementation of thermal protection systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement thermal models to analyze and predict thermal performance of spacecraft and launch vehicles.
  • Design and develop thermal protection systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of spacecraft and launch vehicles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal design into overall spacecraft and launch vehicle design.
  • Develop and maintain thermal analysis tools and software to support thermal design and testing.
  • Conduct thermal testing and validation to ensure thermal performance meets design requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, aerospace, electrical, etc.).
  • At least 1 year of experience using engineering simulation software (e.g. MATLAB, ANSYS, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of thermal analysis and design principles.
  • Experience with thermal protection systems and thermal testing.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience with thermal analysis and design.
  • Experience with thermal simulation software (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, etc.).
