Empowering Youth Through Safety... At Career Systems, our goal is to uplift at-risk youth by equipping them with essential career skills and life competencies for a successful future.
Safety and Security Specialists play a crucial role in upholding all regulations, policies, and laws as mandated by the Safety and Security Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upholds all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Safely transports individuals using company vehicles.
- Conducts regular patrols of designated areas, remaining vigilant for any disturbances, hazards, or suspicious activities.
- Provides assistance to visitors, students, and staff as needed.
- Keeps detailed logs of student attendance and movements within the facility.
- Performs thorough security and safety inspections of the premises.
- Conducts authorized searches and health inspections of individuals as required.
- Addresses complaints and initiates preliminary investigations.
- Offers escort services as instructed.
- Investigates incidents involving vehicles on the premises.
- Issues visitor credentials and temporary vehicle permits.
- Engages in the disciplinary process as outlined by the organization, maintaining a strict policy against violence and substance abuse.
- Participates in mandatory training sessions.
- May provide temporary oversight in areas occupied by students, such as dormitories and recreational spaces.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Work Schedule: Saturday through Wednesday, 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Days off are Thursday and Friday.
Qualifications:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid state driver's license required.
Preferred: Experience in a security-related role for three to six months; Class B driver's license with passenger/air brake endorsement is advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with crowd management techniques is preferred. Understanding of law enforcement protocols is beneficial. Must possess a valid state driver's license and the ability to obtain a bus driver's license. CPR/First Aid certification is required. Awareness of the challenges faced by underprivileged and minority youth is essential. Strong writing and communication skills are necessary.
