Purpose:

The role involves managing the receipt, distribution, and documentation of cash transactions within the food service sector of Housing and Dining. The position also includes assisting with inventory replenishment and setup, while delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain cashier supplies and assist in restocking inventory. Ensure compliance with all required logs and maintain cleanliness and organization in the service area.
  • Welcome customers and handle transactions, including cash, credit cards, and meal plans. Accurately identify food items and provide excellent service.
  • Perform cleaning duties in the dining area, including table sanitation and waste disposal.
  • Complete necessary paperwork related to cashier operations, including financial reports and cash reconciliation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one year of cashier experience in a large-scale environment.
  • Proven customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Ability to complete and maintain food safety training as required.
  • Capability to complete and maintain cash handling training.

Relevant education and experience may be considered as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of cashier experience in a large-scale operation.
  • Experience in a dining or retail setting.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
  • Experience in high-volume cashiering.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
Salary:

$18.00 per hour

Working Conditions:
  • Uniforms and/or personal protective equipment provided.
  • May involve working in varying temperatures.
  • May be exposed to chemical fumes.
  • Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
Work Shift:

Workdays and hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
