Position Overview:
- We offer flexible scheduling options for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) seeking to enhance their work hours, averaging up to 29 hours per week.
- Provide evidence-based nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following established Standards of Practice.
- Manage sick calls, administer medications, provide first aid, and perform basic life support as required.
- Work collaboratively with security and treatment personnel to formulate treatment plans, ensuring effective communication.

- Encourage continuous professional growth through educational opportunities and certification in correctional nursing.
- Availability to work assigned shifts, days, and locations, providing coverage as needed.
Organizational Goals:
- Deliver comprehensive healthcare services to inmates, encompassing routine, chronic, and emergency care within a correctional environment.
- Safely administer medications in accordance with Department of Corrections policies.
- Provide employee health services in line with company protocols.
- Comply with operational policies, Health Services guidelines, ACA standards, and professional practice standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Possess a valid, unrestricted LPN license in Virginia or a multi-state compact license.
- Proven ability to assess physical health issues and refer cases to medical professionals when necessary.
- Experience in executing treatments as per provider's directives and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers from recognized organizations.
- Capable of following both verbal and written instructions effectively.
Additional Considerations:
- Previous experience in correctional or law enforcement settings is preferred.
- Experience or training in general nursing and emergency medical care is beneficial.
