Role Overview
As the Transportation Lead, you will oversee and execute a comprehensive multi-modal supply chain for bulk materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various supply chain teams to ensure the strategic objectives for product shipping, transloading, and related functions are met effectively.
- Engage in daily interactions with ExxonMobil personnel and contractors.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for transportation and terminal operators.
- Plan for service exceptions during holidays and other scheduled disruptions.
- Provide critical insights for managing transportation vendors involved in bulk material movement.
- Work with supply chain teams to analyze and assess requirements for assets such as railcars, trucks, vessels, and terminal capacities.
- Ensure rail scheduling and billing align with strategic plans.
- Manage car inventory to maintain appropriate levels at origin, in transit, and at destination terminals.
- Track shipment data to identify and address issues with routes and transit networks.
- Lead efforts to reroute railcars in response to service disruptions.
- Ensure the trucking team’s plans align with overall supply chain objectives.
- Collaborate with the Completions Engineering team to optimize product delivery locations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with the Global Marine team regarding vessel requirements.
- Monitor marine shipments to keep the supply chain plan updated.
- Provide oversight for transloading activities between marine and rail.
- Act as the primary interface with third-party terminals handling bulk materials.
- Manage tactical issues with third-party terminals and make key decisions to mitigate challenges.
- Conduct periodic reviews of third-party terminal operations.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, with a Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience of 15 years or more.
- Familiarity with the North American Rail Network, preferably with direct experience in class-I rail operations or complex logistics involving rail transportation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both employees and contractors, along with analytical capabilities.
- Experience in demand planning and leadership roles, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic 24/7 supply chain environment.
- Knowledge of transloading terminals, railroad strategies, trucking logistics, and marine operations.
