Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing critical application support to the Electrical Engineering and Control Centers teams. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain databases, displays, and applications related to the distribution automation systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide application support to critical information systems utilized by Electrical Engineering and the Control Centers.
  • Design, implement, and maintain databases, displays, and applications related to the distribution automation systems and processes.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate new systems for inclusion into operations and engineering platforms.
  • Manage the installation of vendor products and support and maintain vendor packages in production.
  • Perform high-level applications testing for technology upgrades as necessary.
  • Collaborate with users to prepare requirements for enhancements to existing systems and the development of new systems.
  • Assist with programming specifications based on system design.
  • Work as a liaison between project teams, external agencies, contractors, and Company departments to coordinate and complete projects.
  • Assist in the development of scripts to automate processes and share data across departments and applications.
  • Review daily GIS updates and investigate mapping-related issues.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of problems found in the system's environments.
  • Work with teams to develop appropriate plans and processes for the coordinated sharing of data, based on the requirements of departments, systems, and users.
  • Configure and maintain data, databases, and displays related to the ADMS processes and interfaces.
  • Familiarity with construction and/or the electric utility industry.
  • Actively monitor and maintain compliance with Cyber Security Standards.
  • Install, configure, and update applications used to manage historical SCADA/DSCADA data.
  • Support applications and databases used for managing, planning, and control of electric utility infrastructure.
  • Provide on-call support to the DSCADA system on a rotating basis.
  • Assist field crews in commissioning remotely controlled DSCADA devices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Any Discipline and 2 years of work experience with Information Technology or Associate's Degree in Any Discipline and 4 years of work experience with Information Technology or High School Diploma/GED in Any Discipline and 6 years of work experience with Information Technology.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management.
  • Be well-organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Have excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Have excellent analytical skills.
  • Work well in team situations, be willing and able to lead and participate in cross-functional teams as required.
  • Familiarity with database structures and queries.
  • Familiarity with one or more object-oriented programming languages (C#, Python, Java, VB).
  • Technical experience in operations, engineering, system operations, or information systems.
  • Knowledge of MS-SQL, MS-Access, Oracle, PI, eDNA, or ODBC.
  • Experience manipulating text files.
  • Experience in Python scripting.
  • Experience with real-time control system applications.
  • Experience with big data analytics.
  • Experience with digital mapping systems (GIS).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers. Must be able to travel to various Company locations and to other companies, if required. Must be available to travel out-of-town for meetings and conferences.
