Uncommon Schools and Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay GSE) are partnering to offer a unique teaching residency opportunity for aspiring educators. As a Resident, you will receive high-quality teacher training and gradually take on more teaching responsibility while working full-time at Uncommon Schools - Rochester Prep.

During the two-year residency, you will participate in weekly Deliberate Practice sessions with Relay GSE's expert faculty and receive training in proven, powerful teaching techniques. You will also take on increasing teaching responsibilities as your skills and confidence develop.

Upon completion of the residency, you will be prepared to transition into a full-time teaching position at a Uncommon Schools campus. You will also receive a Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay GSE and a New York teaching certificate.

As a Resident, you will be part of a dynamic team of educators and will have access to extensive training and development opportunities. You will also be eligible for a full-time salary and benefits for the duration of the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tutor small groups and individual students
  • Be a teacher's assistant
  • Co-teach
  • Teach certain elective and enrichment courses
  • Substitute teach
  • Complete Relay GSE coursework and take graduate school classes
  • Take all necessary New York state tests towards teacher certification

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • A letter of recommendation
  • US Citizen or permanent resident status

Additional Information:

Residents will receive a stipend in each of their third and fourth years to cover the costs of their Master's degree. Salary for this role is $45,000.
