Critical Care Paramedic

A challenging and rewarding Critical Care Paramedic role has become available at Piedmont Macon North Hospital. This is a Full Time Nights position, requiring the successful candidate to work effectively as part of a dynamic team.
**Job Summary:**
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Physicians. A key aspect of this role is facilitating culturally sensitive and age-appropriate care, ensuring a safe environment, educating patients and their families, and utilizing technology to enhance patient outcomes. The Critical Care Paramedic participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare services, with a focus on patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and oversight of unlicensed personnel.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of various medications, including intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous, and intravenous push, including their effects, side effects, and potential interactions. Familiarity with anaphylaxis protocol and venous blood sampling is also essential.
- Familiarity with the human body's systems, including neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, primary, and secondary trauma assessment.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to provide patient care that takes into account age-appropriate and culturally aware needs.
- Perform EKGs, Foley catheters, start IVs, IOs, draw blood, transport patients to other departments, and monitor patients for arrhythmias, reporting any abnormalities immediately to the Charge Nurse and Physician.
**Requirements:**
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia is mandatory; National Registry preferred.
- BLS certification required, with ACLS certification desired, or immediate certification possible.
