Early Childhood Education Mentor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Childhood Education Mentor to join our team at Community Action of South Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to Head Start program staff, with a focus on improving teaching practices and promoting career development.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the onboarding process of new educators, providing one-on-one training and classroom observations.
- Recognize and build on the strengths of educators, adapting to diverse learning styles and promoting positive, reflective mentor-coaching relationships.
- Conduct CLASS observations as needed for newly hired staff, utilizing the Early Learning Outcomes Framework and School Readiness Goals to inform Professional Development Plans.
- Collaborate with program staff to prioritize training and technical assistance, and work with Mental Health and Disabilities Content Area Lead/Specialists to support participation for children with disabilities and/or behavioral and social-emotional needs.
- Implement Practice-Based Coaching with assigned educators, using modeling, focused observation, shadowing, and video observation to improve teaching practices.
- Ensure each assigned educator receives mentor-coaching 1-3 times a month, reviewing observation outcomes and developing strategies to improve teaching practices.
- Maintain Practice-Based Coaching documentation, including Professional Development Plans, meeting and observation notes, and monthly tracking of mentor-coaching activities.
- Assist in conducting an annual community assessment of education services and participate in program-wide self-assessment.
- Guide the development of annual quantitative and qualitative goals and objectives for education services, including the classroom, cluster, and overall program.
- Travel to assigned classrooms and attend in-service trainings, seminars, and other assigned meetings.
- Promote and maintain the confidentiality of the mentor-coach and coachee relationship.
- Work with educators to obtain necessary credentialing and facilitate training and technical assistance.
We are looking for a candidate with a Baccalaureate Degree in childhood education or a related field, and three years' experience in a licensed center or public school setting at a grade level no higher than elementary school. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of Head Start Procedure Standards, and the ability to work in an office setting.
A valid Texas Driver's License and ability to pass a PRS background check are also required. Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred, and a Master's degree is also a plus.
The successful candidate will be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
