Key Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse employs the nursing process to assess patient needs and prioritize care. Responsibilities include:
  • Delivering fundamental bedside care with professionalism.
  • Conducting triage and documenting vital signs and patient history.
  • Collaborating with physicians to implement care plans.
  • Administering medications as prescribed and documenting accordingly.
  • Educating patients and families on care procedures.
  • Managing basic life support and stabilizing patients until further assistance is available.
  • Accurately recording all patient care information in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring adequate supply levels and maintaining medical equipment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure in Minnesota.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 24 months of hire.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within 24 months of hire.
  • Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ATCN) may substitute for TNCC.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may substitute for ENPC.
Preferred:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in emergency nursing.
  • Familiarity with nursing principles, policies, procedures, and hospital ethics.
