Job Summary

Connections is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crisis response services, you will play a vital role in delivering innovative and compassionate care to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess individuals and document pertinent information, including Triage, Behavioral Health, Physical Health, and/or Substance Abuse issues.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Crisis Intervention and de-escalate potentially aggressive situations.
  • Provide education to individuals and their families regarding Behavioral Health diagnosis, medications, and treatments.
  • Complete detailed Nursing Assessments and document pertinent information.
  • Plan individual treatment as part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical team.
  • Intervene with verbal interventions to diffuse out of control or potentially dangerous behaviors.
  • Accurately transcribe Provider orders and administer medications as prescribed.
  • Perform chart checks and sign off as a second noted on medications prescribed.
  • Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by Providers when required.
  • Complete nurse-to-nurse handoffs at discharge or when accepting individuals from another facility.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited Nursing program.
  • Unrestricted active license as Registered Professional Nurse through State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege.
  • Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.
  • Working on ASAM 3.7, the RN shall have competencies and experience in conducting an alcohol or other drug-focused nursing assessment.
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated.
  • Must be able to obtain a State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • At least 1 year of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience.
  • Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with addiction and addiction management.
