The Certified Nursing Assistant / Endoscopy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involving endoscopes for gastrointestinal conditions. This position involves preparing the procedure area and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use, assisting medical staff throughout the procedure, managing specimens, and maintaining a sterile environment post-procedure. Additionally, the technician is responsible for providing pre- and post-sedation care, escorting patients to and from procedure rooms, and assisting with patient discharge, including transportation support when necessary. Inventory management of medical supplies is also a key responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the surgical team by organizing and setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures, while providing assistance to surgeons and nurses as required.
- Ensure all instruments are sterilized or disinfected, and verify their cleanliness and functionality, including power equipment checks.
- Assist in patient preparation and movement, as well as in cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms for subsequent procedures.
- Handle and label specimens collected during procedures with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring proper delivery to the laboratory.
- Provide assistance in the central processing area, including escorting patients to the GI Lab, helping them into appropriate attire, and supporting pre- and post-operative care, including vital signs monitoring and instructions.
- Package clean supplies and instruments, maintain accurate records, and transport items as needed.
- Communicate the status of equipment and inventory to relevant personnel, including updates on orders and back orders.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- Current CNA certification in Wyoming is necessary.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting is required.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience as a surgical technician.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in Endoscopy.
