Role Summary
We are seeking a qualified NDE Technician to conduct thorough inspections and assessments of production components, subassemblies, and completed assemblies. This role involves supporting and training Quality Control Inspectors as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual inspections of materials and components.
- Perform Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques including Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, and Visual Testing.
- Document and maintain accurate records of inspection results.
- Verify the accuracy of heat codes and Mill Test Reports (MTR).
- Ensure traceability of materials prior to product release.
- Understand and adhere to the Quality Policy and all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Foster professional relationships with machinists, assemblers, test technicians, supervisors, and management.
- Assign heat codes to all purchased raw materials and update records accordingly.
- Conduct receiving inspections on components from external vendors.
- Verify traceability for semi-finished products received from suppliers.
- File Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for any discrepancies and implement corrective actions as per engineering directives.
- Manage the procurement of equipment, supplies, and services relevant to the role.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to maintain calibrated tools and ensure certification records are up to date.
- Review and document final traceability before assembly processes.
- Oversee hydro testing and review associated test charts.
- Coordinate with documentation teams to create comprehensive data packages.
- Maintain minimum inventory levels for NDE consumables.
- Work with inspectors to prioritize inspection tasks.
- Submit requisitions for quality-related activities.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist supervisors, engineers, and managers with any quality control and assurance tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, symbols, and tolerances.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in filing Non-Conformance Reports.
- Minimum six months of related experience.
- Capability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Visual acuity testing in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC1A standards.
- Color contrast testing is required.
