We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and perform measurement and screening procedures.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including obtaining vital statistics such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Record findings in patient medical records and inform clinicians of results.
- Obtain specimens from patients, as directed by clinicians, and complete requisitions, labels, and routes specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), as required, and assist clinicians during examinations, procedures, and treatment.
- Secure required supplies, tools, and equipment for specific procedures and ensure patient is appropriately draped and positioned.
- Provide requested instruments to clinicians during procedures and assist in positioning and holding patients, as required.
- Assist patients after examinations, procedures, or treatment and prepare, sterilize, and calibrate equipment.
- Strictly adhere to infection control standards in the performance of duties and perform related clerical duties supporting operational needs.
- Participate in patient registration, as required, and process insurance forms, certifications, physician orders, prescriptions, etc.
- Ensure required patient information and documentation is available in medical records and schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Place, receive, and direct phone calls and file, copy, and distribute documentation, as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Successful completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an accredited school OR 1-3 years of medical assistant experience, required.
