Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Interior/Exterior Trim Design Engineer to join our team at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Montgomery, AL.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design improvement concepts for current production vehicles, focusing on quality, cost, mass, and performance.
  • Collaborate with HMMA, KAGA, KMX, HMGMA, Suppliers, HMG R&D, and HATCI teams to improve product design.
  • Provide technical design support for current production and new vehicle launch builds, ensuring design for manufacturability and quality.
  • Lead component testing to assess design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Modify and create assembly structures, 2D engineering drawings, and 3D geometry as required.
  • Benchmark competitor vehicles to understand design methodologies and customer preferences.
  • Develop strong supplier contact base and manage suppliers as part of the design improvement process.
  • Respond to special requests from HMMA, KAGA, KMX, and HMGMA Production Staff.
  • Create and present technical reports as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 0-9 years of experience in Engineering Design for responsible functional area.
  • Experience working in culturally diverse team environments.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry engineering and manufacturing, vehicle safety standards, and tooling and manufacturing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
