The Department of Fine Arts at Brandeis University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach two courses in the Fall 2024 semester: FA 30A, History of Western Art I: Antiquity to the Middle Ages, and FA 155A, Impressionism: Avant-Garde Rebellion in Context.
Course OverviewFA 30A is a survey course that explores the artistic and architectural traditions of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East from prehistory to the end of the Middle Ages, emphasizing cultural context, meaning, and stylistic characteristics.
FA 155A is a thematic lecture and discussion-oriented course that focuses on French Impressionism in context, serving Fine Arts majors and minors as well as undergraduate students from across the university.
QualificationsCandidates who are ABD or have a PhD in Art History or a related field with expertise in pre-Modern Western art will be given preference.
