We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver CDL Class A to join our team at Hassett Express. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering freight safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver freight.
- Unload truck using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
- Maintain a commercial drivers' license and follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods.
- Read bills of lading to determine assignment details and verify cargo against shipping papers.
- Examine and report vehicle malfunctions, defects, accidents, traffic violations, required maintenance, or damage to the vehicles.
- Refuel and take vehicles in for maintenance.
- Documenting/recording Information and maintaining driver log according to I.C.C. regulations.
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources and verify instructions and routes.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods.
- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
- Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
- Secure cargo for transport, using cargo straps, cargo bars, stretch-wrap, blanket-wraps, etc.
- Wrap goods using pads, packing paper, and containers, and secure loads to trailer walls, using straps.
- Use local or regional geographical knowledge to determine vehicle routes and read and interpret maps or use GPS enabled devices.
- Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D
- Commercial Driver's License - CDL A (registered to state of work location)
- Experience using forklift and/or pallet jack preferred but not required
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass security background checks
