Location: Hesperia

The Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational environment is tasked with conducting student assessments and delivering therapy services in line with individualized care plans and physician directives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations of students' communication abilities, oral-motor skills, cognitive function, memory, problem-solving skills, hearing, and speech fluency.
  • Evaluate the home environment when necessary and determine equipment needs related to speech and language capabilities.
  • Identify speech-related challenges and collaborate with physicians to create a tailored care plan addressing communication, language, and hearing disorders.
  • Implement speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members about their roles in the therapy process.
  • Suggest appropriate communication aids and devices as needed.
  • Recommend audiological assessments when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit clinical progress reports based on goal achievement.
  • Guide patients, families, and healthcare personnel on treatment protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the provision of speech-language pathology services.
  • Identify needs for additional services for patients and families, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Adhere to professional standards and maintain clinical competency in speech-language pathology practices.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the relevant state is required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be mandated by state or contract.
  • Compliance with all applicable professional standards of practice.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if required.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Fulfillment of all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as relevant to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively share information with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer usage is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
