The Role: Freight Broker Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis fast-paced position requires exceptional multi-tasking, problem-solving, and communication skills. You'll work closely with customers, carriers, and associates to achieve goals and deliver results.
- Identify and vet prospective carriers to build a pipeline of service providers.
- Gather information from clients to determine their shipping needs.
- Obtain shipping quotes from carriers and pass them on to clients.
- Book freight service through carriers for clients.
- Coordinate the pickup and drop off of shipments.
- Monitor the progress of shipments to ensure timely delivery and minimal damage.
- Update customer management software to maintain accurate client records.
- Advise clients on potential supply chain issues.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Familiarity with logistics software, customer relationship management systems, and spreadsheets.
- Strong analytical skills to find solutions to complex problems.
- Well-honed negotiation skills to secure optimal rates for clients.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with global partners.
- Analytical skills to identify the best carrier options for various clients.
