Job Summary:

Under the guidance of a supervisor, performs a variety of routine and semi-routine clerical duties related to cashiering and patient/customer service. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, members, and visitors, responding to their needs in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of current health plan and non-plan policies, as well as Regional standards and communications, to ensure accurate and efficient service.
  • Process cash, credit, and collection transactions, verifying information and ensuring accuracy and accountability.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and service issues, referring difficult problems to a supervisor as needed.
  • Operate a computerized cashiering system, entering transactions and posting charges for services and supplies.
  • Reconcile and balance cash, checks, and credit card transactions, reporting any discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Prepare and process bank deposits, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely submission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including appointment scheduling, data entry, and report preparation.
Requirements:
  • 6 months of experience in a cashiering or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cashier experience in a financial institution or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance cash and maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, or database applications.
  • Appointment registration and scheduling experience, with knowledge of healthcare and insurance benefits.
