Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough quality assurance, calibration, acceptance testing, and commissioning of radiation therapy equipment and treatment planning systems.
- Utilize advanced treatment planning systems such as Eclipse, VariSeed, and Brachyvision, while implementing procedures including 3D-Conformal therapy, IMRT, IGRT, RapidArc, SRS, SBRT, and HDR Brachytherapy.
- Perform patient dose verification using MapCheck and Mobius 3D, ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols and conducting chart checks.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to uphold the operational integrity of the Cancer Center, addressing radiation safety concerns in alignment with established objectives.
- Work with advanced equipment including the Truebeam unit, Varisource iX HDR system, and Philips Big Bore 16 Slice CT simulator.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to physics and therapeutic services.
- Expertise in implementing quality control programs to guarantee the efficacy of radiation delivery in therapy.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse range of personnel, including physicians and administrative staff.
- Ability to maintain high professional standards while meeting the needs of patients and medical staff.
- Proficient in assessing and adapting organizational changes to enhance service delivery within the Cancer Center.
- Commitment to ensuring patient care systems are aligned with community needs and available resources.
- Thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory, and ethical standards governing physics activities.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records in compliance with hospital and accreditation requirements.
- Facilitate educational initiatives regarding radiation safety for all staff members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Master's or Doctorate degree in Medical Physics or a related field is required, with a preference for graduates from CAMPEP accredited programs.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Physicist in a Radiation Therapy department, including residency experience, is required. Certification as an Authorized Medical Physicist as defined by regulatory agencies is necessary within the first year of employment.
Licensure & Certification:
Successful completion of part 2 of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) exam is required upon hire, with part 3 certification to be achieved within two years.
