Job Overview

Functional Responsibility: Accountable for the installation of fiber optics, copper wiring, and hardware for large-scale cabling and infrastructure undertakings from inception to completion. This includes interpreting project schematics, ensuring superior quality of work, and maintaining documentation of daily activities. Timely completion of projects is essential to meet deadlines.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates will demonstrate the capability to perform meticulous and precise tasks under stringent deadlines.

Execute skilled structured cabling tasks in the installation, servicing, maintenance, repair, and modification of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic systems, coaxial cabling, and various other low voltage cabling frameworks. This role encompasses the physical removal and/or installation of structured cabling components, including but not limited to pathway systems, racks, and faceplates, as well as terminating, testing, and troubleshooting Low Voltage Cabling (Fiber Optics, Coax, and Cat 6a cable).

Assist in the development and execution of strategies for the installation, configuration, and upkeep of all telecommunications systems and networks. Responsible for the installation of communication cabling and equipment in compliance with all relevant plans, specifications, codes, and standards. Proficiency with various hand tools and power tools, a foundational understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints, and knowledge of codes and standards is required. A comprehensive understanding of UPS systems, racks, cabinets, PDUs, grounding, bonding, and grounding systems is essential. Collaborate within a team environment to facilitate the installation of cables from Telecommunication Rooms (TR) to work area outlets (WAO), adhering to drawings and run lists to ensure methodical installation and proper bundling of cables at TR for ease of dressing and termination. Ensure that TRs, racks, and cabling are labeled according to ANSI/TIA-606-C standards. Report project status to the project Foreman and Project Manager.

Maintain and care for tools and testing equipment. Ensure daily clean-up and take proactive measures to mitigate or eliminate site hazards for the team and bystanders. Operate safely at all times and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

This position requires familiarity with ANSI/TIA standards, Fluke Testers, and Master Construction Specifications (Design-Build construction projects). Knowledge of seismic zones and appropriate bracing and anchoring of installed equipment is beneficial.

Perform installation tasks for all pathways and support systems, including multi-floor pathways and penetrations for Fiber Optical Cable/Copper Backbones in very large buildings up to 1,000,000 square feet.

Conduct QA inspections of wiring installations during final site evaluations, ensuring compliance with manufacturer, industry, NEC, and customer design standards. Identify, document, and report all issues and discrepancies to company leadership. Design outside plant cabling pathways, including wall and/or floor conduit penetrations. Collaborate with the customer and prime contractor regarding the Fiber and Copper installations, terminations, testing, and the delivery of test results.

· BICSI Copper/Fiber certification

TB blood test results (also known as interferon-gamma release assays or IGRAs).
