About the Role:

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Construction Intern. As a Construction Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction field and work closely with our experienced project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist project teams in managing construction projects, including all phases from bidding to final completion.
• Conduct quantity take-offs, layout, and preconstruction/as-built surveys.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Interface with subcontractors and suppliers, and attend weekly progress meetings.
• Assist with coordinating work between the owner, architect, and subcontractors.
• Assist with reviewing construction documents and specifications, and maintaining field records.
• Assist with estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and constructability surveys.
• Assist with writing contracts and purchase orders, and preparing billings to owners and submitting change orders.
• Assist with approving invoices, ordering and expediting materials, and scheduling and updates.
• Assist with quality control and safety, and settling contracts.
• Assist with permit processes, and performing costing, scheduling, estimating, and project management tasks.
• Participate in punchlist and project closeout activities.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, engineering, architecture).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other construction software.
