About the Position: As a key member of the U.S. Special Operations Command (Army) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform flight assignments in a variety of aircraft, including the C27J, C-12, and CASA 212.
• Prepare and file flight plans, using publications and maps, and obtain and evaluate aviation weather reports and briefings.
• Conduct pre-flight maintenance and operational checks on aircraft to determine airworthiness.
• Serve as an instructor pilot, providing guidance and procedures to military and civilian pilots.
• Schedule day-to-day aircraft and flight crews in support of the unit's flying hour program.
• Coordinate closely with the Maintenance Section to ensure aircraft availability and efficient use of resources.
• Manage the crew endurance policy to ensure the maximum availability of aircrews to support mission requirements.
Requirements:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Must possess and maintain current commercial multi-engine instrument ratings in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations.
• Must possess and maintain an annual Class II Flight Physical Qualification.
• May be required to maintain currency for duties in the C27J, C-12 multi-engine turboprop aircraft.
• Must be able to successfully complete CASA 212 initial training and a qualification evaluation.
• Must possess and maintain the FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or the military equivalent rating.
Qualifications:
• One year of specialized military/FAA civilian flight experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
• Knowledge of Regulations, Procedures or Laws in accordance with Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
• Experience in performing pre-mission planning, such as evaluating aviation weather reports.
• Experience in preparing flight documentation using publications and maps.
• Experience in flying assignments, such as the C27J, C-12, or CASA 212, or equivalent size and gross weight aircraft for mission performance.
• Experience in instructing military/civilian pilots in both ground instruction and in-flight training.
• Experience in managing military/civilian flight crew endurance policy to ensure the maximum availability of aircrews to support the organization's goals and missions.
