Facility Cleaning Operative

The compensation for this role is set at $21.00 per hour.
Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly manner at all times. This includes adhering to the outlined responsibilities while being flexible to meet the needs of the environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carpeted Areas
- Regularly empty waste receptacles and replace liners as necessary.
- Dust and clean surfaces of office furniture and desks.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas thoroughly.
- Address any stains or soiled areas on carpets as required.
- Ensure the lobby door glass is kept clean.
Non-Carpeted Areas
- Consistently empty waste receptacles and replace liners.
- Dust and clean surfaces of office furniture and desks.
- Sweep and mop all non-carpeted floors.
Lunchroom and Break Areas
- Regularly empty waste receptacles and replace liners.
- Wipe down and clean all tables and chairs.
- Maintain cleanliness of vending machines and appliances.
- Clean sink and countertop areas.
- Sweep and mop floors as needed.
Restroom Maintenance
- Empty waste receptacles and replace liners regularly.
- Refill all restroom dispensers as necessary.
- Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and urinals.
- Spot clean walls and doors as needed.
- Sweep and mop floors with disinfectant.
Periodic Duties
- Dust overhead vents and blinds, and polish wooden furniture.
- Clean high partitions and ledges, and interior glass.
- Move furniture and equipment to facilitate cleaning.
- Scrub, wax, and polish floors using appropriate machinery.
- Occasionally use ladders to clean walls, ceilings, and light fixtures.
- Remove stains from various surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways and maintaining outdoor areas.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain an organized janitor's closet.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained.
Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with basic janitorial tasks is advantageous.
- Strong listening and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to understand and anticipate client needs.
- Participation in training and safety meetings is required.
- Maintain a professional appearance; uniforms may be required.
- Punctuality is essential.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience in commercial cleaning is desired.
Work Environment
- Varied office environments, from small to large.
- Fast-paced atmosphere with moderate noise levels.
- Exposure to cleaning products and typical office conditions.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this position include the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of equipment and waste.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
