Position Overview
As part of our technology strategy and innovation team, you will engage in architectural design, problem-solving, and security initiatives utilizing advanced technologies to deliver impactful solutions for the organization.

In your role as an Associate Principal Software Engineer, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers and stakeholders to explore and implement innovative technologies as part of a thorough requirements-driven solution design.

Your responsibilities will include developing engineering requirements and participating in Proof-of-Concept and laboratory testing efforts, leveraging modern approaches to process and automation.

You will also establish, deploy, document, and manage lab environments within both On-Premises and Cloud Data Centers for rapid prototyping and validation of concepts.

In this technical role, your expertise will be vital in assessing emerging technologies and assisting leadership in making informed decisions regarding the technology roadmap.


Core Responsibilities:
To excel in this position, you should be able to effectively perform the following duties:

- Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, and Cloud Platform teams to assess, document, and showcase Proof of Concepts for infrastructure, applications, and services impacting the technology roadmap.

- Document technology design choices and conduct assessments as part of a centralized demand management process.
- Utilize your expertise to pilot innovative solutions addressing business challenges.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing infrastructure architecture for improved performance, support, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Integrate security best practices, identity and access management, and encryption methods for data protection.
- Develop automation scripts and processes to optimize routine tasks such as scaling, patching, backup, and recovery.

- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab environments and Proof of Concepts.


Qualifications:
The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this role:
- Experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance.
- Strategic thinking ability to align architectural decisions with business needs.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.

Technical Expertise:
- [Required] Proficiency in web and API security, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML.
- [Required] Experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, PERL, Ruby, etc.
- [Preferred] Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., DB2, Aurora Postgres, SQL Server).
- [Preferred] Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries like Angular and React.
- [Preferred] Knowledge of on-premises networking and hybrid connectivity to cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.

Education and Experience:
- [Preferred] Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- [Required] 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with hands-on implementation and adherence to security standards and best practices.
- [Required] 1-3 years of experience contributing to the architecture of technology solutions.

Certifications:
- [Desired] Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- [Desired] CCNA, Network+, or other relevant networking certifications.
