Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Mary Campbell Center serves as a nurturing home for 68 residents, providing a supportive and dignified environment. The Neighborhood Supervisor Nurse plays a crucial role as the primary healthcare professional within each designated unit, guiding residents and Resident Care Technicians (RCTs) to foster a homelike atmosphere that respects individual dignity and promotes independence.


KEY REQUIREMENTS:


To qualify as a Staff Nurse at The Mary Campbell Center, candidates must demonstrate strong character and compassion, possess a current RN/LPN license valid in Delaware, and ideally have 1 to 3 years of experience in acute long-term care or rehabilitation settings. The ability to supervise and assess RCTs effectively is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in technology for managing resident health reporting are also required, along with good communication abilities and physical capability to assist residents as needed.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Oversee all healthcare activities to ensure compliance with MCC standards, guiding RCTs in their duties. Provide direct assistance to residents with personal hygiene and self-care when necessary.

  1. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.

  1. Conduct and document routine assessments of residents' physical and emotional health.

  1. Monitor and manage residents' acute and chronic medical conditions as required.

  1. Utilize the nursing process to identify health issues, plan individualized care, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes.

  1. Communicate any changes in residents' conditions promptly to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Neighborhood Supervisor, and Medical Director.

  1. Inform residents' physicians of any significant changes in medical conditions according to established procedures.

  1. Engage with residents and their families regarding the healthcare plan tailored for each resident.

  1. Assist in evaluating the performance of RCTs through regular appraisals.

  1. Provide mentorship, coaching, and necessary disciplinary actions for RCTs.

  1. Actively participate in the Interdisciplinary Team (ID Team) for the care of assigned residents.

  1. Assume responsibility for individuals in the Respite Care Program, ensuring they receive the same level of care as permanent residents.

  1. Complete all mandatory training and attend staff meetings as required.

  1. Perform additional duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The Neighborhood Nurse operates in a well-lit, well-ventilated, and smoke-free residential healthcare setting. Daily responsibilities include extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or transferring residents of varying weights. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary to meet the needs of residents and the Center.
