We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our team at FedEx Group. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport freight between service centers and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Tractor-Trailer Combination: Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples, to transport freight between service centers and customers.
- Perform Pre-Trip and Safety Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Hook/Unhook Trailers: Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
- Freight Handling: Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Secure Freight: Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
- Verify Documentation: Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Comply with Regulations: Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
- Communicate with Customers: Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements.
- Experience: Have one year of experience within the most recent three years or successful completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR): Possess an acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations: Meet all DOT regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations.
- Long Combination Vehicles (LCV): Operate LCVs in designated states and meet the LCV Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards.
- Math and Communication Skills: Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator, and basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week and sit for extended periods of time.
- Driving Conditions: Drive throughout shift on all types of roads and in all types of weather.
- Exposure to Hazards: Exposure to noise and vibration, dust and diesel fumes, and hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations.
- Hours of Operation: Hours may vary due to operational need.
