Career Development

Participants in the Research Fellowship Program will gain qualifications to pursue careers in various industries, including biorenewables, brewing, specialty chemicals, and refining.

Role Responsibilities

The Fellow will contribute specialized expertise beyond the scope of traditional staff roles, applying their skills to various research initiatives, including contractual, grant-funded, and self-initiated projects at the Center. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating bioreactors of varying scales, from small laboratory setups to large industrial systems.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining bioreactor and fermentation equipment.
  • Conducting analytical testing and data analysis.
  • Developing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Managing project design, implementation, and oversight.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and engaging with industry clients and academic partners.

Qualifications

Applicants should be recent graduates with a degree in a STEM field.

Funding Source

This position is funded by the Illinois Corn Growers Association through a Sponsored Foundation Account.

Compensation

The salary for this role is set at $30,628 for a nine-month appointment.
