Job Summary
Celestar is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cartographic Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our geospatial intelligence team, you will be responsible for researching, designing, and producing thematic and reference maps in support of USCENTCOM finished intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop intelligence assessments in formats approved by DIA/CENTCOM, meeting or exceeding quality and tradecraft standards.
- Design and produce thematic and reference maps in support of USCENTCOM finished intelligence, working with analytic colleagues to define project requirements.
- Develop and maintain regional expertise to provide substantive input into the final map product, including geographic features, Board of Geographic Names (BGN) rulings, key issues, and recent developments.
- Collect, analyze, and integrate geographic and substantive data into an effectively designed cartographic product.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cartographic design principles, including color and symbology theory, map projections, thematic and statistical mapping, topographic and reference mapping, display hierarchies, typography, and data generation.
- Possess knowledge of GIS principles, including data types, data layers, basic geographic analytic and statistical functions, geographic coordinate systems, and data formatting.
- Experience with MA Publisher and ARCGIS, animation Autodesk Maya, and 3D design printing.
- Desired expertise in the use of Adobe Creative Suite 6 or later, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Premiere, and Dreamweaver.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of experience related to the specific labor category, with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
- Experience with MA Publisher and ARCGIS, animation Autodesk Maya, and 3D design printing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Bachelor's degree related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and an additional 5 years of related senior experience, for a total of 17 years, as a substitute to the Master's degree.
