Job Summary

At Monument Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive work environment for our team members. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare the operating room to ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for each procedure.
  • Instrument Handling: Handle and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure seamless execution of procedures.
  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate and respond to unexpected situations during surgical procedures, using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent certification.
  • Certification: Surgical Technician Certificate from an accredited program within 12 months of hire.
  • Work Experience: 2+ years of cardiovascular experience (for Rapid City & Spearfish Markets) or completion of a Registered Surgical Apprenticeship Program (for Monument Health Orthopedic Specialty Hospital).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work Experience: 1+ years of Surgical Technologist experience and 1+ years of healthcare experience.
  • Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from a recognized certifying organization.
Physical Requirements

This role requires heavy work, with frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. The ability to work designated shift lengths, including night shifts and occasional irregular hours, is also required.
