As a Legal CPS Regional Attorney III, you will provide direct representation in court for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. You will provide expertise, guidance, and instruction in family law, civil litigation, and agency policy. Your role will involve monitoring the progress of all court cases within your assigned area of responsibility and taking appropriate measures to ensure timely and appropriate resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise staff on legal matters and interpret laws, regulations, and policies.
- Provide agency representation in court cases.
- Prepare cases for trial and handle the trial on most cases.
- Provide legal training to agency staff and the legal community.
- Coordinate specialized legal efforts with experts.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of legal opinions, briefs, and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain unit operations.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of family law and civil practice.
- Ability to synthesize law, administrative rules, agency policies, and goals to reach an interpretation.
- Ability to convey complex legal ideas clearly to staff.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with agency staff and the legal community.
