Senior SQL Developer Job Description

Estes Forwarding Worldwide is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Developer to join our team. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will be responsible for providing production support for all software and integrations developed by our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Design and Development:
    • Design, develop, and maintain relational databases and data warehouses to support our business applications.
    • Create efficient database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints to support our business applications.
    • Implement database objects such as stored procedures, triggers, and functions to automate processes and enforce business rules.
  • SQL Query Optimization:
    • Performance tune existing SQL objects using all available metrics and tools.
    • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large volumes of data.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in SQL Queries and database operations.
  • Data Integration and ETL:
    • Design and implement data integration solutions to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the database.
    • Develop ETL processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
    • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design scalable ETL workflows.
  • Documentation and Best Practices:
    • Document database designs, schemas, and processes to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain system documentation.
    • Adhere to best practices in database development, version control, and change management.
  • Monitoring and Support:
    • Proactively monitor SQL Agent Jobs for failures using all available applications and tools.
    • Respond to support requests using Jira Service Management and Jira Cloud.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL programming, including complex query writing, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with relational database management operations for Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and database design principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
