Job Overview

Position: Inpatient Nursing Services Manager
Full-time evening shift from 3 PM to 11:30 PM (40 hours per week)

Weekend supervisory coverage may be required occasionally.

Under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Inpatient Nursing Services Manager is accountable for overseeing nursing operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive, and collaborative care within the inpatient facility. This role involves leading nursing staff to guarantee safe, competent, and professional care through effective consultation, support, training, and supervision. The manager will work closely with the Inpatient Director to identify areas for improvement. Key performance indicators include enhanced nurse staffing coverage, favorable quality metrics, and successful compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in Maryland or eligible for a multistate compact license
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is mandatory
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory nursing role
  • Minimum of 2 years as an RN in a psychiatric inpatient setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and medical records management

Core Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of nursing services within inpatient care and assistance in establishing nursing coverage for Partial Hospitalization Programs or ECT.
  • Manage supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies, procedures, and relevant laws, including employee training, work planning, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.
  • Act as a liaison for patients and their support systems regarding care satisfaction.
  • Participate in leadership meetings as required.
  • Facilitate nursing staff meetings.
  • Potential involvement in committees such as the Pharmacy Committee or Staff Development Committee.
  • Engage in or lead root cause analysis for incidents and debriefing sessions.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within inpatient units.
  • Oversee nursing schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Manage hiring, supervision, performance evaluations, and termination processes for nursing and inpatient staff.
  • Assist with on-call responsibilities as needed.
