The role of the bedside RN is crucial in delivering essential support through direct patient care, ensuring appropriate age-specific care in both Acute Nursing and Elderly Care environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Practice:
    Utilizes the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while documenting accurately.
  • Charge Nurse Duties:
    Assumes responsibilities of Charge Nurse in the absence of the RN, adhering to the scope of practice.
  • Compliance:
    Ensures adherence to all policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator.
  • Patient Admission:
    Collaborates with clinical team members to facilitate patient admissions at the bedside.
  • Patient Discharge:
    Independently manages discharges for assigned patients at the bedside.
  • Treatments and Procedures:
    Conducts treatments, tests, and procedures, including IV therapy, as permitted by the nursing license.
  • Documentation:
    Maintains accurate records of patient care events, including medications and treatments.
Education and Communication:
  • Patient Education:
    Informs patients and families about medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
  • Resource for Staff:
    Provides education to patients and families while serving as a resource for existing staff and new hires.
  • Knowledge Maintenance:
    Stays updated on new medications and treatments to ensure patients and families are well-informed for ongoing care.
Team Collaboration:
  • Multidisciplinary Communication:
    Maintains open communication with team members to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Daily Coordination:
    Participates in daily huddles to ensure proper assignments and identify team members for the shift.
Professional Development:
  • Competency Maintenance:
    Ensures ongoing competency by staying informed about evolving trends in nursing practice.
  • Continuing Education:
    Completes required continuing education hours through online and classroom settings.
  • Policy Familiarization:
