As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Breast Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive diagnostic imaging procedures, specifically focusing on mammography and radiography. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient care and accurate diagnostic results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine diagnostic imaging procedures, including mammograms and X-rays, utilizing appropriate patient positioning and technique selection.
- Administer contrast media and apply necessary radiation protection measures to ensure patient safety.
- Engage with patients in a professional manner, confirming their identities and thoroughly explaining procedures to both patients and their families.
- Collaborate with radiologists to address any special instructions or concerns regarding imaging requests.
- Document patient history and required information accurately within the hospital's computer system.
- Maintain equipment and inventory, ensuring all supplies are up to date and in good condition.
- Participate in the clinical education of Radiology students as needed.
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required by the position.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiological Technology program.
- Certification in Radiological Technology from the American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
- Certification in Mammography from the American Registry of Radiology Technologists is mandatory.
- Current CPR certification is required.
Preferred Experience:
- A minimum of two years of recent clinical experience in a related field is preferred.
