Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate, and represent the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning floors, as well as removing trash and garbage to designated areas.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas, and clean equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.
  • Polish silver and attend all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training, as well as comply with all MedStar/Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner, and participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Attend training programs as designated, and maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor at all times.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior work experience not required, but basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments, and present oneself in a highly professional manner.
