ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Archives Program Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing and enhancing the archival repository for Cook County Government. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic development of the Cook County Archives, including legislative contributions to support archival operations.
- Managing a team of professional and paraprofessional staff, including conducting performance evaluations and facilitating training programs.
- Overseeing the preparation of the annual budget for the Archives and ensuring fiscal accountability.
- Developing policies and procedures for archival management, including preservation and digitization standards.
- Building partnerships with local agencies and organizations to promote archival initiatives and community engagement.
- Staying informed about current archival practices and participating in professional development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in archival management or a related field. A master's degree in library science or a Juris Doctorate is preferred, along with prior supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. The role may involve sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking or standing.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
This position is exempt from the County's career service rules and is at-will, meaning employment may be terminated at any time for any lawful reason.
