Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Outpatient Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide recovery-oriented, Veteran-centered clinical care for Veterans with a variety of medical, surgical, and psychiatric diagnoses in the outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide triage and temporary medication management for Veterans in transition
  • Collaborate with Veterans, families, and interdisciplinary treatment team members to assess biopsychosocial treatment needs
  • Evaluate and interpret medical data to formulate a plan of care
  • Develop treatment plans with specific goals and interventions
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, based on standardized procedures or protocols
  • Provide ongoing medication management, individual, group, and family psychotherapy
  • Responsible for required clinical records, evaluation, and monitoring of service delivery and outcome
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Ability to distinguish shades of colors, emotional and mental stability, and ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the position
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. The ability to carry or lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. is required, but occasionally may require work that involves pushing or lifting in excess of 25 lbs. and going up and down flights of stairs.
