Job Summary

Fishbeck is seeking a skilled Civil Field Technician to join our team in one of our Mid-West offices. As a key member of our field operations team, you will be responsible for conducting field observations and documentation of construction contractors' activities to ensure conformance with contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare thorough inspector's daily reports (IDRs) detailing the status of the work, including verification of work completed, item postings, and materials associations.
  • Complete and submit required calculations, sketches, and applicable forms, including Inspectors Daily Report of Concrete Placed, Permit to Place, and Drilled Shaft Inspection Report forms.
  • Verify and document that construction adheres to contract requirements, communicating with senior staff on issues of non-compliance.
  • Assist with Requests for Information and serve as liaison between the contractor and senior technician or engineer to resolve constructability issues or questions.
  • Communicate with project team and stakeholders, including project engineer, senior technician, testing technicians, survey staff, contractors, business owners, and residents.
Requirements
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Concrete Technology, or similar field.
  • 2-5+ years' experience performing inspection on DOT projects, with experience performing inspection for municipal or local agency projects acceptable.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record and ability to travel, work long hours, and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
