Position Overview:

We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our team. This role will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and will be pivotal in standardizing equipment and processes while suggesting enhancements based on manufacturing requirements and capabilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, engineering management, or a closely related discipline. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-oriented environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and promote productivity enhancements and best practices within the organization.
  • Collaborate on various projects, ensuring proper documentation and timelines for improvement initiatives.
  • Plan and assess the integration of new or upgraded machinery.
  • Support manufacturing in various enhancement projects, including Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvements, and Problem Solving.
  • Provide cost estimates and project details for electrical initiatives, including Gantt charts to track progress.
  • Create and supply schematics and documentation for skilled trades teams, along with troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement Activities.
  • Assist in maintaining the current electrical infrastructure of the plant, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Guide E-Techs and Electricians during troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Drive the standardization of equipment and processes.
  • Recommend methods, materials, and layouts for enhancements based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the following areas (experience may be concurrent):
    • Programming, calibrating, restructuring, and troubleshooting PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
    • Addressing automation challenges, including troubleshooting electrical and robotics issues, conducting root-cause analysis, and resolving problems.
    • Working with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) to ensure optimal functionality and control parameter visualization.
    • Programming robots for new stacking patterns, overload protection, axis slip, bag rejection, and pick/place points.
    • Configuring and calibrating various sensors and transmitters, including levels, flow, radar, ultrasonic, capacitance, and temperature.
    • Utilizing tools and technologies such as AutoCAD, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Allen Bradley Kinetix 6000, Rockwell Automation, and Lean Manufacturing.
Within the First Few Months, You Will:
  • Complete the Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your role contributes to Atkore's strategic objectives.
  • Familiarize yourself with your colleagues and the areas you will support.
By the End of Six Months, You Will:
  • Ensure the proper operation of equipment and train others on its use.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the facility, including participation in Kaizen events.
  • Begin identifying cost-saving initiatives and their potential impact on the business.
Within a Year, You Will:
  • Manage projects by developing plans, quotes/estimates, and schedules.
  • Maintain process guidelines and training programs for the integration of new products and systems.
  • Support operations by leading and directing technical activities necessary to resolve issues encountered throughout the facility.
