Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at Beacon Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and medication management services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and efficient dispensing of pharmaceuticals in accordance with legal, regulatory, and accrediting agency standards.
  • Oversee and review the work of technical and student support staff to ensure medication preparation and dispensing meet high standards.
  • Consult with medical staff, clinical pharmacy practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of assigned areas to ensure integrity of pharmaceuticals available for use.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of pharmaceutical procurement, dispensing, and use in accordance with hospital, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Attend and participate in department meetings and be accountable for all information shared.
  • Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific education within established timeframes.
  • Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year.
  • Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patients and self.
  • Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance.
  • Comply with established organization and department policies.
  • Be available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
Requirements
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm D degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or successful completion of the foreign pharmacy equivalency exam and licensure as a registered pharmacist or eligible for licensure in the State of Indiana.
  • Demonstrate the interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with physicians, hospital staff, and other healthcare professionals to assure optimum pharmaceutical care.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards for the provision of pharmaceutical services.
