Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist to administer basic respiratory care therapeutics and diagnostic services with skill and proficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cardiopulmonary systems and be able to consistently perform basic clinical assessments with a moderate degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer basic respiratory therapeutic interventions, including gas/humidity therapy, bronchial hygiene, CPT, lung inflation, airway management, manual ventilation, resuscitation, and medicated aerosol.
  • Perform weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
  • Collect specimens and perform basic diagnostic testing, such as EKG, sputum collection, and bedside spirometry.
  • Display a moderate degree of accuracy in the interpretation of basic diagnostic and monitoring data, including spirometry, CXR, culture and sensitivity, and blood gases.
  • Document more than 95 percent of care provided with a high degree of accuracy in 100 percent of patients cared for.
  • Provide basic educational training to patients and/or family members as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in an accredited respiratory program.
  • Basic Life Support from AHA upon start.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and schedules.
