Job Description
The Senior Process Metallurgist will be responsible for overseeing and refining heat treatment processes to uphold the highest quality and efficiency standards.

This role requires close collaboration with the production team, in-depth analysis of metallurgical properties, and the development of innovative heat treatment processes tailored to meet production objectives and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining heat treatment processes, including vacuum hardening of tool steels, neutral hardening, case hardening, nitriding, and understanding microstructures and physical properties of steels.
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing heat treatment processes for various metal alloys.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to production personnel and other departments.
  • Training staff on metallurgical principles, heat treatment methodologies, and quality assurance standards.
  • Conducting metallurgical evaluations of heat-treated products to ensure adherence to industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Establishing and overseeing inspection and testing protocols for heat-treated materials.
  • Investigating and resolving metallurgical challenges, non-conformances, and customer feedback.
  • Preparing comprehensive technical reports, including metallurgical assessments, process documentation, and failure analyses.
  • Maintaining meticulous records of process parameters, test outcomes, and product specifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Leading initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and sustainability.
  • Staying informed about advancements in metallurgical science and heat treatment technologies.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a metallurgical or materials science role, particularly within a heat treatment or manufacturing context, is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in various heat treatment processes and metallurgical analysis techniques, along with a strong grasp of metallurgical principles. Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, PPAP, Control Plans, and PFMEAs is also required.
What's on Offer
Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $110,000, with a bonus structure of 7-10%. Additional benefits include a 401K match of 6%, comprehensive health insurance, dental and vision coverage, short-term and long-term disability insurance, a complimentary gym membership, flexible scheduling, and three weeks of paid time off.
