Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Children and Families First Delaware Inc. The successful candidate will provide critical support to our Head Start program team in identifying and securing necessary resources for families of children experiencing mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expertise to the program through observations, assessments, and consultative support to promote social and emotional development in children.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies to support children and families, utilizing evidence-based models and best practices.
- Collaborate with Head Start staff to build capacity and understanding of mental health concerns and develop effective strategies to support children with behavioral and mental health needs.
- Conduct child observations and assessments to identify individual needs and determine the necessity of additional mental health support or resources.
- Provide education and support to parents on mental health concerns and emotional wellness, and assist them in accessing necessary mental health interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of screenings, assessments, and consultations in our database.
- Prepare and maintain reports and records in accordance with agency and state accreditation requirements.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH, or LMFT) is preferred. A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH, or LMFT) within two years of hire date is required.
- Experience working with child behavioral and mental health concerns is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of infant and toddler mental health, with a preference for candidates with experience working in collaboration with early education teams to provide mental health support.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole is preferred.
- Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among our service population.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
