Objective:
To deliver a comprehensive level of nutrition expertise within the interdisciplinary team for the management of hospitalized patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of outpatient billing protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory documentation for client charges.
- Facilitate educational sessions or CEU opportunities for the multidisciplinary team at the departmental or facility level.
- Conduct Nutrition Diagnoses and identify Malnutrition using Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and established criteria.
- Execute order writing in accordance with the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
- Deliver tailored nutritional education and counseling based on the learning needs and capabilities of patients and families.
- Exhibit effective communication strategies as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Guide and mentor dietetic students, interns, and support staff, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Implement timely interventions based on Nutrition Risk levels and the established Plan of Care.
- Provide high-quality patient care to diverse populations through Medical Nutrition Therapy, including assessment, goal setting, and care planning.
- Lead an annual departmental initiative, promoting evidence-based practices.
- Act as the nutrition liaison/expert for assigned units and engage in interdisciplinary committees to enhance the nutrition care process.
- Demonstrate professional writing skills adaptable to various health literacy levels in preparing educational materials and presentations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minimum of 2 years of clinical nutrition experience, or a Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with at least 1 year of clinical nutrition experience, and registration as a dietitian is required.
Essential Skills:
Strong analytical skills for accurate assessment, planning, and evaluation of outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse populations and collaboration in a team setting. Proficient nutrition education, counseling, and mentoring abilities. Critical thinking skills for informed decision-making.
Licensure and Certifications:
Registered Dietitian is mandatory. Licensed Dietitian is essential.
